What Nancy Knew...

...is the title of our latest piece for Examiner.com. In the article, we examine Nancy Pelosi's claims that she didn't know we were actually water-boarding terrorism suspects. Never mind that a Washington Post article from 2007 neatly debunks her argument. Intelligence officials report that Ms. Pelosi never raised a peep on the subject of enhanced interrogations, despite participating in several briefings on the subject.

Not that we're really surprised. Pelosi, like most elected officials, wants to have it both ways, and she probably will. The current kerfuffle over "what Nancy knew" will (eventually) be replaced by something far more ominous--attempts to prosecute officials involved in the interrogation program.

Maybe she really DIDN'T know.

I mean, these people don't even have time to actually READ the bills they vote into law.

So, should we be surprised that they fail to absorb anything from those briefings?

Excellent point Paul, Just because one attends a briefing doesnt mean that they had any clue what was briefed. Look for Nan to use that defense next; "I really had no idea what they were talking about...and had to get to my next meeting therefore didnt ask any questions."

Her current claim is odd "I didn't see a problem with the legal justification, but I didn't know they actually intended to *do* it."

Really.

That's "I would approve of X so long as nobody actually does X." Perfectly clear.

I have always thought that Nancy Pelosi did not have a clue. Maybe we could use some enhanced interogation techniques to get at the truth. She's a pathological liar (as most politicians are wont to be)and will never come clean.

I had the same idea.

Great minds think alike. (If you're thinking as I do, you're obviously a great mind. :o)

Weak piece.

I think the intelligence community is WELL AWARE that once certain things see the light of day politician attitudes can and do change.

Are you for real? Pelosi doesn't leak a classified briefing to the media, so you criticize her for that.

Lets stick to real news instead of making up alarm at Nancy Pelosi. We've got bigger things to worry about.

Uh, you guys DO realize my post was sarcasm, you know?

Especially, the part about not reading the bills they vote into law?

Didn't think a smiley was necessary.
