Some were even in trouble for calling it the "Bone" but Bone it is, to anyone who works or flies them today.OldSarghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08391054336563427915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-48020655748181312632008-05-20T19:31:00.000-04:002008-05-20T19:31:00.000-04:00Paint it green and call it The Frog. The Surrender ...Paint it green and call it The Frog.

The Surrender Monkey?GeorgeHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10736838055941100599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-74046360914425165282008-05-20T19:07:00.000-04:002008-05-20T19:07:00.000-04:00Verspaciennes.http://theworldisyoururinal.blogspot...Verspaciennes.

http://theworldisyoururinal.blogspot.com/2007/07/this-picture-shows-last-surviving.htmlLowly Knavehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17741805064775993600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-13521783251155831422008-05-20T17:00:00.000-04:002008-05-20T17:00:00.000-04:00Actually the F-35 Raptor was in a un-official nami...Actually the F-35 Raptor was in a un-official naming contest a few years ago by the Chief of Staff.. The Statocruiser is another one, for example.

In days gone by, specific manufacturers had themes to their names - McDonnell was supernatural - Phantom, Goblin, Demon, Banshee, etc.; Douglas used the Sky prefix as in Skyhawk, Skylancer, Skyraider, etc.; Grumman was cats as in Bearcat, Tomcat, Hellcat, Wildcat, Tiger, Jaguar, etc., Republic has Thunderjets, Thunderchiefs, Thunderbolts, etc.; and so on.

I hope that the USAF turns to Northrop's heritage when it thinks about names for the KC-45, although I also think the Frog is a great name.Ran Bartonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17898489036181520120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-14497818939190182852008-05-20T12:21:00.000-04:002008-05-20T12:21:00.000-04:00GasBusGasBusJim Howardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18228368552972082442noreply@blogger.com
