I watched as she punished folks unfairly for things they should not have been questioned about let alone been punished for. I guess it's true, what goes around comes around and she has finally gotten her day. Fair or not!Myrticehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16788001360526412161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-90721315930562803452008-01-09T20:57:00.000-05:002008-01-09T20:57:00.000-05:00The post and comments are right on, I saw it for y...The post and comments are right on, I saw it for years that ring knockers do in fact protect their own no matter how incompetent they are. Many times I saw academy men being given these second chances even after proven critical leadership failures. New is a prime example; I had friends at Nellis when the crash and investigation went down. The word on the street was that the group was being run fast and loose like some kind of high priced big boys flying club. This kind of behavior shows time and time again that there is a two-tier system and shows and incredible lack of leadership. Another item that I think is relevant is check out all of the Generals in the post assignments, not one of them flew in Desert Storm or have seen combat anywhere. They are typical staff acolytes who are all protected. When Major General Mike Decuir retired last January as ACC/CV is when I gave up hope of any warrior to actually rise and lead any of the MAJCOMS.
As far as the SNCO’s at Minot as a retired SNCO the Chief and her subordinates should all be hammered for what happened. They are supposed to be the system and procedural experts and they failed miserable in this case. But since accountability seems to be a thing of the past at worst they will all retire at curent rank and in a few months no one will even remember their names.billmillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01935148113752374830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-5338379860567197212008-01-08T22:26:00.000-05:002008-01-08T22:26:00.000-05:00A--Please drop me a line at icspook86@hotmail.com....A--Please drop me a line at icspook86@hotmail.com. I have spoken with his B-1B check pilot and heard nothing but great things. I hope he gets that second chance.OldSarghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08391054336563427915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-62550505042631343472008-01-08T19:05:00.000-05:002008-01-08T19:05:00.000-05:00I am not surprised that Col. Emig's career may be ...I am not surprised that Col. Emig's career may be salvaged. What does surprise me is the lack of attention anyone pays to what happens to the SNCOs involved.

It is the enlisted force that is the career field experts. There is a Chief Master Sergeant at Minot with around 27 years of experience in the Nuclear Weapons career field. What is her responsibility in this? She has been removed from her position but will not face any other repercussions. Rumor has it she will retire with full retirement pay and priviledges that go along with being a CMSgt.

It is the Chief who is supposed to ensure airmen are properly trained and that they understand the importance of their jobs. She is supposed to represent the philosophy of the Commander to the airmen. She is also supposed to be an expert in the management and maintenance of nuclear weapons. If the problem of airmen ignoring schedules is rampant why didn't she know? Did she spend any time with the airmen? Did she attend maintenance scheduling meetings and ensure all involved were aware of schedule changes? And what about the E8s and E7s she was supposed to mentor?

The fact that those who are tasked with actually handing and maintaining nuclear weapons and the most senior enlisted who are vested with great responsibility and priviledge are not held accountable. This seems to marginalize them. What is the point of highly educated enlisted if the most senior are not responsible?

By the way, no enlisted will be court martialed over this dereliction of duty. Several have received Non-judicial punishment. And Minot failed it's Initial Nuclear Surety Inspection conducted by the Air Combat Command IG, which they needed to pass in order to get their nuclear certification back.A.
