Was chatting with friends who are LEOs out in that area and they absolutely HATE the storm chasers, they get in the way, cause problems for emergency responders, an like in this case, are one more set of victims that have to be accounted for. For years, people kept opening their windows (to "equalize" the pressure) and huddled against the wall closest to the approaching storm. And to this day, you can see video of motorists huddling under overpasses as a tornado approaches. Never mind that people died in Moore, OK during the 1999 tornado in those very locations, because an overpass created a "channel" for wind and debris when they take a direct hit by a twister. That Kansas TV crew that started the overpass craze only survived because that 1991 storm passed north of the overpass and they only experienced high winds and virtually no debris.

Old habits die hard in tornado country and that's one reason that some people die unnecessarilyAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12712369389411084085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-18038485951079403162013-06-03T06:01:02.133-04:002013-06-03T06:01:02.133-04:00"More than 30 years later, it's hard to b..."More than 30 years later, it's hard to believe that people in the heart of tornado country are still trying to outrun storms." I think it comes from a strange urge of people wanting to "do something", it can be applied to a lot of odd behavior. I'm down in Texas and remember what my Dad would advise "always know where a good hole is".Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13642228725661059539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-38308934894513366852013-06-02T19:07:43.934-04:002013-06-02T19:07:43.934-04:00I cringed when I saw news shows applauding employe...I cringed when I saw news shows applauding employers who let their employees leave early to go home.
Saw it coming.Ed Bonderenkahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03724552853113809036noreply@blogger.com
