Surely anyone as high up as he is in the military should know that whatever is said in front of a reporter is never off the record. Perhaps he had had enough and this was his way of getting the point across to the American people and ensuring that Obama had no choice but to replace him with Gen Petraeus.formersk9erhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14149402048720575646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-81122778977199685512010-06-24T13:22:04.861-04:002010-06-24T13:22:04.861-04:00Movie night suggestion for the White House The Roc...Movie night suggestion for the White House The Rock (1999)!

Let's pray life doesn't imitate art.stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02007265627643978802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-11664613091701826392010-06-23T09:58:48.980-04:002010-06-23T09:58:48.980-04:00This boils down to a matter of "How dare he s...This boils down to a matter of "How dare he say anything negative about me, I'm the president." GEN McChrystal was selected for the position on his ability to get things done. Politicians were hell-bent on making him a demon because of his idea for the surge in Iraq; yet it worked. The same thing was occuring when he took charge in Afghanistan.

Whether or not you like the man, his point of view or if he’s pointing out shortfalls in his chain of command, it doesn’t change the fact that he is the right man for the job. I’ve never met him personally even during my tours in Iraq but, given his reputation for getting things done, I’d follow him. That is the main point that has been ignored through this fiasco. We’re not in Iraq or Afghanistan for a popularity contest; we’re there to do a job.

Unfortunately, the end result of this will be a new commander replacing McChrystal that is a “yes” man for the White House. Big picture end result will be that we will be fighting in Afghanistan until my youngest Soldiers have grandchildren.coconut commandohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03922880321053297133noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-56778931375675519002010-06-23T09:01:50.308-04:002010-06-23T09:01:50.308-04:00It will be interesting to see if the article was a...It will be interesting to see if the article was actually available on line and then disappeared..and what differences if any exist between the earlier and later versions. I'm also assuming that the earlier version was cached somewhere. Still it sounds like McChrystal brought this on himself.lgudehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12774491337993415578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-33039015680347475642010-06-23T07:15:14.557-04:002010-06-23T07:15:14.557-04:00McC is merely mouthing what the rest of the milita...McC is merely mouthing what the rest of the military is surely thinking, that they are a matchbook in the hands of children, from which a misplaced fire will inevitably be set if left in their hands long enough.Ivanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17839055681323073977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-87143607563140508432010-06-22T20:08:10.793-04:002010-06-22T20:08:10.793-04:00Like MacArthur before him, he's not willing to...Like MacArthur before him, he's not willing to let his men die as political pawns, with no chance of victory. Had Truman not surrendered after MacArthur had the Korean war all but won, there would have been no Vietnam. With Mao substantially weakened he probably have had to settle for 20-30 million of his own murdered or starved rather than the 70 million he achieved. Unfortunately, Richard Nixon and his EPA(with the banning of DDT) put Mao to shame with 102 million deaths http://www.junkscience.com/malaria_clock.htmlckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15089310708763037289noreply@blogger.com
