If they felt there was an informer within their senior ranks, they could easily feed him false information, for relay to the U.S. However, since targeting was based on multiple sources, it would take a fairly elaborate sting to pull it off.

My guess is that Zawahiri was scheduled to visit that village, or had been there recently. Our timing was off, and we killed some people identified as "villagers."

What I find most intriguing is Al Qaida's ability to mount a quick--and effective--PR blitz in the wake of the strike. There was little coverage of the incident, and virtually no pictures. The result? Little public reaction in Pakistan, or anywhere else. AQ realized they made a mistake, and made the necessary adjustments.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12712369389411084085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-1137455670789733952006-01-16T18:54:00.000-05:002006-01-16T18:54:00.000-05:00This was a scam to expose whoever was tipping us o...This was a scam to expose whoever was tipping us off.

It's clear that right from the hideous Hamid Gul, not only is ISI playing both sides, but that the core probaby are islamozoid salafis.

Should there be any surprise? I wouldn't be surprised to find out we achieved more than is assumed right now. In fact, some of the rightous indignation coming from non-government Pak sources strikes me as a little disinformation.Elam Bendhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01107109112835556039noreply@blogger.com
