There must be a herculean effort going on that we are unaware of.

Nobody stays in a heightened alert status forever, and I fear our (individual) vigilance may be lacking.SwampWomanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08395051552137680646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-11032130602231268262008-06-21T20:44:00.000-04:002008-06-21T20:44:00.000-04:00If local police want to stop the "IEDs", they only...If local police want to stop the "IEDs", they only need look to the enclaves of Muslims scattered all over our Republic. And of course to all of the Islamic schools (and some of our Charter schools) for the ones who are most likely going to be making and using them.

Oh..I forgot that is the job of just a very few thousand "special" law enforcement people. Ones who share very little with local or even other LEAs.

You know...the FBI.

Until info and assets are shared as well as our tax money with local LEAs, there is no defense against terrorism. Because after the terrorist does his act, catching him is only a small part of the job. Getting him/her before the act is what will be needed to stop IEDs or any other acts of terror.

Since we don't like police states, I doubt we will be able to stop all of the terrorists, local or imported.

We are already being accused of trying to destroy Islam and we haven't actually done anything in the U.S. If our LEAs really try to stop terrorism, they will be the subject of so much legal action, they will hesitate to go after terrorists (especially if they are Muslims).

In the new pussified PC America, the terrorists have all of the advantages.

Papa Ray
West Texas
USAPapa Rayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11454201360366303944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-5182039724478014072008-06-21T05:16:00.000-04:002008-06-21T05:16:00.000-04:00I'm not sure if the classification of homeland bom...I'm not sure if the classification of homeland bombings makes any sense, to be honest. Technically all home-made bombs (whether made by a terrorist or a some crazed criminal) are IEDs. And if they really want to implement this strategy then doesn't this sort of overlap with actual police work... police work which seems to be constantly getting the short end of the stick when it comes to respect from the government? When you start classifying home-grown criminals as terrorists, then I think that opens up a whole new can of worms.

And I'm not really sure about the zero tolerance to civilian casualties comment, because at least 30,000 Iraqis have died and over 4,000 American soldiers have died and neither the government nor the people have really batted an eyelash. If what you are saying is true, then the American Armed Forces would be out of Iraq and Afghanistan by now. I'm not trying to criticize your comment, I'm just making an observation based on what I've read myself. Maybe we just read different things.Yiu-cho Chanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17373778267256210011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-17462209116752280592008-06-20T20:22:00.000-04:002008-06-20T20:22:00.000-04:00Technically, of course, we've already seen the dep...Technically, of course, we've already seen the deployment of a VBIED in Oklahoma City more than a decade ago. Being the cynical grumpy bastard I am, I was more surprised there were not random explosions around the nation, or in Wall Street and Capital hill in the months and years afterward. Having a bit of intelligence, I know far too many ways one can buy common things in a hobby shop and hardware store and blow things sky high. I shudder at the many ways. Having worked at an airport, I was boggled at what big gaping holes were in security. Even the weeks after the attacks, I was able to work for an hour, driving a diesel truck around the ramp filling equipment, and wandering about the planes, in full view of the added patrols (some wearing FBI jackets). . .with no ID on my person. I took it off in the office and forgot to put it back on. This was just two weeks after the attacks.
With the freedom of information in the U.S. any fool can get the Anarchist's Cookbook. Some of us don't even need that. I'm glad the Terrs seem to need it, and don't know how to get it, easily as it may be.JPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07904120914423802777noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-14433027320777529272008-06-20T16:30:00.000-04:002008-06-20T16:30:00.000-04:00Look at how the DC area was crippled with the snip...Look at how the DC area was crippled with the sniper attacks...two people paralyzed an entire region.

A few well placed IED's would have the same effect, especially if dispersed throughout the nation.usually mellowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16684212852170769805noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-79947086301361683262008-06-20T14:40:00.000-04:002008-06-20T14:40:00.000-04:00Really great post. Preparing for this really makes sense.
I think all Homeland Security funds should have mandates, because the states will just pork barrel the funds away and then point the finger at Washington for not helping.

ITA- Yes, Americans have a zero tolerance for civilian causalities, especially in the homeland.DebbieKinILhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08069956422123937194noreply@blogger.com
