It will leave the impression that we will not provide anti missile support to Japan and S Korea as we did in earlier tests. It will end up driving Japan into the nuclear club much to the dismay of the new administration. <BR/><BR/>The Democrats are locked into mentality of the 70s that missile defenses are unproven and provocative. They are wrong on both. It totally ignores the realities that a nearby nuclear armed madman is now testing missile technology that just might be considered provocative to Japan. But that just doesn't sink into the skulls of the 70s peacniks.<BR/><BR/>One more 1998 style missile test over Japanese territory might just be the straw that broke the camel's back. There was outrage from the Japanese media then. There will be again, but the difference will be the feeling they can't depend on the US.<BR/><BR/>Japan has the technology to develop nuclear weapons quickly, almost certainly within 30 months. The last thing Obama needs is a nuclear arms race in the Far East.
