Now I know it does.
The organization reference in the article that leaped out at me was the Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation.
First, the organization is basically combat wounded taking care of combat wounded and other Vets.
Second, I've seen members in the VA clinics and in major DoD medical centers. the members haven't struck me as a 'monied' outfit, and it seems they aren't -- They defended themselves against a similar hit piece run by ABC in November: http://www.purpleheartfoundation.org/listnews.asp. (see #101)
Perhaps the WP got their hairbrained idea from watching television?
Thanks again,
I'll forward this post to my friend.SMSgt Machttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08126690689798203866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-29257309022278047292007-12-14T16:57:00.000-05:002007-12-14T16:57:00.000-05:00Thanks for commenting on this. I hope the general public and all the Republican politicians (especially quick draw McCain) get access to the rebuttals before the inquisition commences.

I would hope that this guys organization has undergone the requisite scrutiny.davodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09272330967156237637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-77265479934741004482007-12-14T13:28:00.000-05:002007-12-14T13:28:00.000-05:00Dangit. Harvard is lauded for its massive endowment; so large that any student with a family income of $60,000 or less will get a full-ride scholarship, as I understand it, Yet, the military charities are criticized for creating their own "endowment" against future calamities and possible down-turns in donations.

As I did note in the post, yesterday's hearing was nothing but cheap political theater, with the AIP leader as a willing participant.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12712369389411084085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10820485.post-55309984114908611082007-12-14T10:20:00.000-05:002007-12-14T10:20:00.000-05:00So, his biggest gripe is that the charities keep t...So, his biggest gripe is that the charities keep to much in their cash reserves. I wonder what score he would give an Ivy league school, like Harvard for having 34.9 BILLION in its endowment.owr084https://www.blogger.com/profile/01387774420107628389noreply@blogger.com
