Like the site anyhow.

Just curious, where did you get your figures for the 'tooth-to-tail' ratio? I was trying to write something about it the other day but couldn't find it. I found Hackworth's material, which is generally good, even with his baggage. On one extreme, there is the self-sustaining SF model that is rarely attained, but set as an ideal in contrast to the lengthy logistics tail we have in supporting our network of FOB's and Camps in hostile like Iraq. I couldn't find exact figures on what we calculate to be an accurate representation of the current situation. I know of my own experience and the anecdotal representation of others, but would like something more concrete.

My $.02 on the Surge is that current political debate over troop levels are the refuge of the bureaucratic and uninformed, but I'm for it since the perception of doing something is better than the idea of just rolling over and playing dead.

But on Casey, you won't find this pro-war veteran too excited about him. Too much CYA paperwork came out of his office and little apparent leadership, at least from where I stood. History may later reveal he was great at addressing the various issues among the fledgling Iraqi government or whatever pressures he dealt with under the radar during his tenure, but he seemed to be content to lead by memorandum, passing the buck to the Pentagon.

If you come up with something, thanks- if not, thanks anyways.sunguh5307https://www.blogger.com/profile/03065221995872684185noreply@blogger.com
